Long and high at once: 26.4 km of gravel at around 960 m, crossing the plateau between three municipalities instead of skirting it.
Above the treeline for most of its length, which on a plateau means you can see the whole road ahead of you and nothing else at all.
May I actually drive it?
Yes. Fv 2442 is a public road with an owner and published closures — not a track across open land, which is banned or tightly restricted in most of western and northern Europe. Obey the signs at the barrier: a road that is open in August can be shut in October, and the dates are decided locally each year.
