The highest gravel county road we measured: 1 082 m at the midpoint. And it does not go anywhere — it ends at Bygdin, inside Jotunheimen.
A dead end into the biggest mountains in Norway. The road exists because people wanted to reach Eidsbugarden, not because anything waits on the far side.
May I actually drive it?
Yes. Fv 252 is a public road with an owner and published closures — not a track across open land, which is banned or tightly restricted in most of western and northern Europe. Obey the signs at the barrier: a road that is open in August can be shut in October, and the dates are decided locally each year.
